How to get on a Longtail Boat Tour.

On Chao Phraya many Longtail Boat Tours are offered on many piers, we will show you two examples. The first possibility is at the pier Sathorn (Taksin), near the BTS station Saphan Taksin (Silom line). Amongst other things, there is also the express boat that is designed for tourist rides. The second option is how we find something nicer and have marked the point on the map. Pier Tha Chang is only a few minutes away from The Grand Palace. Anyone who plans to visit The Grand Palace anyway can combine this with a boat tour through the Klongs.

What are Longtail Boats?

Longtail Boats are elongated boats, similar to a canoe and can be up to 30 meters long. The boats are powered by a powerful PS outboard motor where the propeller is mounted directly on the drive shaft. The drive shaft is very long and makes the longtail boat very agile. In Longtail Boats fit in well 10 to 15 passengers. Since the tours are offered privately, you can virtually rent a whole boat for a tour for two people either.

The prices for one tour vary, usually around the 2000 Baht. Depending on where you start, how many passengers ride and how long the tour lasts.

The Klongs are a place of residence for many people. The accommodations are often very simply built and reflect the poverty of the people again.
