How to get to the Grand Palace
There are different ways to get to the Grand Palace, depending of course on how far you live from the palace. You can take the express boat to the Grand Palace by water, as the Grand Palace is close to the Chao Phraya River. There are various express boats, marked with colored flags. Blue flags, for example mark the boats for the tourists, but also the boats with the orange flags stop at Pier 9 at the Grand Palace and are also cheaper than the blue marked boats. By land, you can of course treat yourself to a taxi or take the tuk tuk. We prefer the ride with a tuk tuk because it's just a lot more fun and driving in an open vehicle is simply an experience. Except when it rains ;-)
Be careful!
Already on the way to the Grand Palace and also directly in front of the complex, it may be that you meet sleazy ears who want to tell you that the palace is closed. But that's just a trick to bring you to a certain shop for shopping. As a farang, this can happen to you even in the company of a local, where you should think that the fake ears should realize that they have no chance, but they definitely try when the opportunity presents itself. Just be careful. Likewise, it may occasionally happen that fraudsters try to sell fake tickets, supposedly so that it is faster and you do not have to wait. You should always buy the ticket at the counter.
ID Card
Some years ago it was still without, meanwhile it means that you need for the entry your passport or identity card, without this one does not come in.
Take your Time
The temple complex is very large, you should take enough time for a long visit.
