The supermarket and store chain Tesco Lotus in Thailand is operated by Ek-Chai Distribution System Co., Ltd.

Tesco Lotus started in 1994 its first Supercenter at Seacon Square on Srinakarin Road --- opened 1995 Lotus Mahachai the first discount store --- opened 1996 the Wangnoi Distribution Center --- and made 1998 a further big step with the beginning of cooperation of Tesco Lotus under the management of Tesco Group, a leading retailer from the United Kingdom.

Tesco Lotus is part of Tesco Group and operates a network of more than 2,000 stores across Thailand as well as online shopping platforms, serving more than 15 million customers every week.

Tesco Lotus is represented by 5 kind of formats: Extra Market --- Hypermarket --- Department Store --- Talad and Express. The big stores / marktes offers you a hugh range of items, extensive fresh food and prepared food, lots of grocery items and up to non-food offerings. The smaller markets and (convenience) stores like Talad selling mainlay groceries.

You can find some Tesco Lotus stores in malls and often a food court or other small shops are included.

Food Court.

Pretty Cool! Tesco Lotus is not just shopping, it is more than this. Before shopping, after shopping or instead of shopping, you can enjoy a visit at the Food Court! The idea of a Food Court is brilliant: near to the entrance you can get a Cash Card, you decide how much Baht to charge on the card. Inside of the Food Court are several counters with different kind of food. You chose your favorite meal, pay with tha cash card at the counter, you enjoy the meal. The bill you get back show you the price of the meal and also the rest of the charge on it. Finally after your meal you can go to the counter where you got the cash card and get back the rest of the charge on the card. Or you come back another day and use it again.
