How to get to The Acient City
Take your time! When you want to visit this outdoor museum, you not only need time at the museum itself, you need some time to travel to that place. The best way is to drive by BTS. When you stay in the center of Bangkok, its about one hour to get to The Ancient City. Drive with the Sukhumvit Line to the current final station Keha (E23). But the museum is still about 2km away from the BTS station, so you need another public transport from the BTS station to the museum, there are Taxis waiting for customers :-)
One day is not enough to visit this place
Mueang Boran, The Ancient City, is an open-air museum of Thai architecture, culture and art at Samut Prakan in Thailand. The world‘s largest
private outdoor museum is located in the south of Bangkok, near the coast of the Gulf of Thailand.
About 300 acres, The Ancient City features more than 100 structures of Thailand's famous monuments and architectural attractions. The map of The Ancient City has the shape of the map of Thailand and the area is divided into 4 sections like the "original" Thailand, into the northern region, northeastern region, central region and the southern region. When you visit the outdoor museum, you feel like as you visit every region in Thailand, with its arts, architecture and culture.
By clicking on THIS LINK you can have a look on the official map of The Ancient City. When you visit the mesuem, you will get this map at the entrance.
We can not say it often enough, the area of the museum is big, really big. When you arrive at the entrance office, when you pay for the ticket, you can decide how you want to explore the outdoor museum. You want to walk? Good luck ;-) If you are fit, you can borrow a bicycle or even an e-bike. If you dont like to walk, or ride a bicycle, you can drive in a golf cart for rent with up to 6 people.
